Information for survivors

The mainstream services listed on the previous pages are the most appropriate services for anyone who is experiencing domestic abuse. However, in some cases LGBT people may wish to contact an LGBT–specific service.


Broken Rainbow Helpline – 08452 60 44 60

This is a UK helpline providing support to LGBT people who are experiencing domestic abuse.

The helpline is available on Mondays and Thursdays  from 2pm - 8pm and on Wednesdays from 10am-1pm

Strathclyde Gay and Lesbian Switchboard – 0141 847 0447

Available every evening from 7.00 pm–10pm.

There is also a Lesbian line staffed by women – 0141 847 0547
Available every Wednesday evening from 7.30pm–10pm.

Another Closet Website -  http://ssdv.acon.org.au/

This website is Australian and is aimed at same-sex domestic abuse, but would be beneficial to any LGBT person experiencing domestic abuse.  It has information on assessing if you're partner is abusive, safety plans for fleeing domestic abuse and how to look after yourself after the abuse has ended.
