Training
The LGBT Domestic Abuse Project will be providing free training to service providers in Tayside, The Scottish Borders and Dumfries & Galloway this year.
An understanding of domestic abuse will be required, attendees must support, work with or plan services for people experiencing domestic abuse.
Course learning outcomes:
- Increase awareness of the issues facing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people
- Reflect on the nature of homo/bi/transphobia and heterosexism and consider how this impacts on LGBT people's experience of domestic abuse
- Increase understanding of the dynamics and impacts of LGBT people's experience of domestic abuse
- Increase understanding of the barriers LGBT people experiencing domestic abuse may face in relation to accessing help and support
- Examine good practice and policy in relation to LGBT people experiencing domestic abuse
