Glasgow East Women's Aid Drop In- Glasgow LGBT Centre

 

Glasgow East Women's Aid will now be offering confidential advice and support to lesbian, bisexual and transgender women experiencing domestic abuse. Staff from the service will be in the LGBT Youth Scotland offices twice monthly. The drop in's take place on the first Thursday of the month 2-4pm and on the third Thursday of the month 7-9pm.

Criminal Justice Series - Statistical Bulletin

The reporting levels of same sex domestic abuse are low, but they have been increasing at a steady rate. With approximatley 1 in 10 people in scotland being LGB or T and 1 in 4 experiencing domestic abuse these numbers still need to increase dramatically. The 2007-08 bulletin gives a breakdown of reports from 2000-2008.

LGBT Domestic Abuse Project Launch

The project was officially launched on Thursday 30th August 2007 at Glasgow City halls.  The event was a success with over 100 delegates in attendance.

The programme consisted of:

Scottish Government - Opening

Scottish Women's Aid - Links between the gender based approach and LGBT Domestic Abuse

Sunderland University - Research comparing domestic abuse in heterosexual and same-sex relationships

and

LGBT Domestic Abuse Project Manager - LGBT Domestic Abuse Project and the new website

The Project

The project has an LGBT Domestic Abuse Project Manager.  The Reference Group meets every 2 months and work is well underway.
